Deidra Peaches (Diné Asdzą́ą́)
Deidra Peaches is a Diné filmmaker who works as a director, cinematographer, editor, and writer. Her documentary “Shimásaní: Grandma Documentary” premiered at the Imaginative Film Festival in 2009. In 2011, she co-produced and co-edited “The Rocket Boy,” which was selected for the Sundance Film Festival. As a co-founder of Paper Rocket Productions, she and Jake Hoyungowa released “Tó éí iiná át'é” in 2013, which premiered in Paris.
In 2014, Deidra documented a canoe journey with Project 562 and organized workshops across the Navajo Reservation, resulting in the production of 15 short films. In 2020, she captured the early impact of COVID-19 on Navajo communities and founded DLP Productions LLC. Most recently, she created documentaries about the Grand Canyon and the Little Colorado River, which are featured in “Voices of the Grand Canyon” and “Lifeways of the Little Colorado River.”
In 2025, she won a Daytime Emmy for Field Producing for the Netflix program “You Are What You Eat: A Twin Experiment.” Currently, she is in post-production on “Holding Hands,” a short narrative co-directed by Cecil Patrick Tso and Deidra Peaches.
